We’re delighted to be hosting Sensei John Parnell, 6th Dan, for our training & kyu grading on 16 July 2022.

Sensei John’s journey in karate started in 1980, he was KUGB National Junior Kata Champion in 1986 and trained for 5 years with karate legends John Mullin & Richard Amos in the USA. He is an experienced instructor and a competition judge. Also he is co-founder of our association body Shotokan Connect and Basingstoke Shotokan karate club.

While the training is open to all Senshi Karate (and Shotokan Connect) students, the grading is primarily for those who missed the one in March.

9.30: Training – all grades
11.00: Kyu grading

• Training only: £10 (included for those who pay term upfront for Saturdays).
• Training & grading: £25 (or £8 discount for those who pay term upfront for Saturdays). This includes your belt & certificate if you’re successful. You must train to grade.
• Please pay in advance to speed up your registration on the day. See below.
• Make sure your licence with Shotokan Connect is in date. No licence, no grading!
• **This event is for Shotokan Connect members only**
• There should be sufficient parking at the school.
• There are changing rooms and showers onsite.
• It is customary to pop to a bar with the guest instructor for a lemonade or a half pint after the grading. Maybe even lunch! We will confirm details nearer the time
