We were delighted to host guest instructor Sensei Neil Jerome, 6th Dan, who is a good friend of the club and a regular guest. Across our regular two Saturday morning classes he got us to work on generating quick, explosive techniques relaxing beforehand and afterwards. This was a great opportunity for all grades to move away from the traditional go no sen style of karate where you block and counter in the traditional manner and practice sen no sen, where you counterattack your opponent at the same time they attack you. We also worked on the Okinawan style of “punching block”.
