Kihon

Basic moves

  • yoi (ready)
  • rei (standing at start, kneeling at end)
  • tying belt
  • responses to instructor commands
  • making a fist
  • step forward gedan barai (downward block)
  • step backward gedan barai
  • mawatte (turn)
  • kiai (shout)

  • kihon ippon kumite (1-step) right and left sides  
    • jodan oi tsuki (stepping punch to chin), defend with age uke (rising block), counter with chudan gyaku tsuki (reverse punch to belly)
    • chudan oi tsuki (stepping punch to bely), defend with soto uke (outside block), counter with chudan gyaku tsuki (reverse punch to belly)
  • age uke chudan
