Sport classes have lost the lockdown lottery again, so we must stop dojo classes until December 2 (or whatever new date the government decides). Just like the first lockdown, we’ll switch to Zoom classes.
We’ll use this again as a chance to work on your technique in preparation for your grading which will still go ahead on 27 January. If you want to get your next belt, we recommend you continue training!
Classes will be at the regular times:
- Saturdays: 9.15am, all grades
- Wednesdays: 6.30pm all grades & 7.40pm senior grades
As there will be no physical space restrictions for online classes, seniors may attend both Wednesday classes! As before, karate uniforms aren’t necessary and sportswear is fine. Also, we’ll run these Zoom classes for free. We’ll circulate the link via the club WhatsApp group.
All you need is a free Zoom account on the web or on your Android phone or iPhone, a fast connection and enough data on your broadband / mobile package! Zoom have made a number of changes since the first lockdown so make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the app and check your login still works!
The club’s insurance covers us teaching but not you training remotely. Therefore, the insurer’s key message is that you train at your own risk, so take precautions such as the following:
- ensure your training space is safe
- wear appropriate clothing
- don’t overexert yourself
- make sure your KUGB licence is current
- neither adults nor children may train alone – someone else must be nearby
- parents / guardians must give express consent to their children training
For those who paid upfront, we’ll transfer those pre-paid dojo classes to January either as PAYG or a credit against the Spring term fee, whatever you prefer.
